Great XP combo for all applications unless you're a real gamer. Mainboard Motherboard drivers chipset downloads Slot, Socket, information, driver, info, ftp, CPU, manual, BIOS, Celeron, Pentium, Thunderbird, Duron, AMD. Picked up this board, new case, PSU, and CPU cooler from New Egg Grabbed a PIII 1.2, and a PC133 512 stick used online. This all started when a new video card ate the PSU in the HP. Overall Review: Had upgraded my old pavilion right out of its capabilites. See other thoughts.Ĭons: Although DFI e-mailed me the pinouts for front audio, (not clear in manual) they don't line up with the ac'97 jack in my new Rosewill case Via Hardware Monitor application included helps keep an eye on temps and voltages. Board has been stable from day one for four months, even after maxing out the ram and cpu. My old HP board wouldn't go over 600mhz, and 384MB. Pros: Perfect solution for making use of my old pc133 ram (2x256), and cpu (PIII 866). Overall Review: Highly recommended! Newegg is awesome! I'm coming back to order more stuff again!!!!!

I would've thought they could've updated the manual with the board? My two cents.

But you should not have to do that as it should be in print already!!! Also, the manual covered Rev. Course, you could always print out that section before beginning like I did. Unless, that is, you have another computer to put the CD in (manual with details is on the CD) and run back and forth between computers to read it. Overall, I am very happy with it!Ĭons: Only one: The manual sucks! The first manual I have ever seen that does not have the BIOS setup descriptions in it! If you need more info on any setting, tough luck. But then again, I've always worked with old boards, so I guess I'm just behind times.

Has awesome audio software that comes with it! Has a "PCI Standby Power LED" on the board itself as a visual reminder that you need to turn off the power before disconnecting or connecting devices to the board. 2 Hyper-Threading Technology requires a computer with an Intel Pentium 4 processor at 3.06 GHz or higher, a chipset and BIOS that utilize this technology, and an operating system that supports HT Technology. Others are: Chassis fan, Wake-On-LAN, Wake-On-Ring. 1 The B-1 Stepping of the Intel 845G chipset is required to support Hyper-Threading Technology. Also has an irDa connector on the board for those that need that. Also has a connector on the board for two more external USBs. Highly customizable! Can completely customize boot options (boot device 1, boot device 2, boot device 3) and choose CD-ROM, HD, floppy, etc. So if one wants to run an old 1.4Ghz 256k 400Mhz Willamette P4 look to a i845 or other chipset based board.Pros: Very nice board. So my guess is that Intel limited the i865 chipsets like they did in i848 and were never designed for the Willamettes but the i845 were but they do not support any 800 Mhz or Prescott from what I found.

All Willamette P4 were 256k L2, Northwood P4 were 512k and Prescott P4 went up to 2Mb. Intel i845 Chipset Driver 14.5.0 DOWNLOAD NOW Description Free Download n/a This package supports the following driver models: - Intel 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller - Intel 82852/82855. The slowest Celeron supported is the 2.0Ghz 400Mhz 128k which is a Northwood. Only Northwood and Prescott core, with the P4 1.60A GHz 400 MHz 512 KB L2 as the slowest supported cpu.

Reply 1 of 20, by zyga64Ĭould be ! Just checked my Intel D865GLC (i865G based) archive and it too does not list any Willamette core P4 support either. I wonder about downclocking mainly because, I want to take highest 800 Mhz FSB Pentium 4, and downclock it to 533 / 400 Mhz FSB version, so I don't have to have 3 CPUs for benchmarks, but only one. We appreciate that you can manually key in whichever FSB you require. "As it is, we have FSB manipulation from 100 - 300 FSB in 1MHz increments. I've found the review of motherboard, that I've remembered it has 100-300 FSB. But this seems, as it is not case on all motherboards with this chipset? I've remembered from long ago, on some other i865PE motherboard, that FSB range was from 100-300, so I was telling myself, it is ok, it will take 400, 533 and also 800 Mhz CPUs. "Genie BIOS Setting screen is where users can adjust the Bus speed anywhere from 200MHz to 400MHz in 1MHz increments, although 400MHz seems rather unrealistic at this point." I was thinking, that it will support Prescott CPUs as well, so I was expecting it will for sure take also all previous one, including Willamette.īut then, I've come accross this review of motherboard DFI Infitinity 865PE, where is mentioned, you can set FSB only from 200 to 400 (not, it is meant basic clock, so it means actualy 4x more FSB, so from 800 to 1600) So does it mean, I cannot set FSB to 533 or 400? I would like to have one overall retro motherboard for Pentium 4 socket 478 CPUs, and I was thinking about choosing i865PE chipset, mainly because of "masked" PAT, dualchannel, Sata, integrated USB 2.0.
